I want to walk through a number because it changed how I think about enterprise go-to-market.
A Fortune 100 customer of ours was running an outreach program. The content was good. The list was qualified. The offer was real. Conversion sat at 1.2%, which for enterprise outbound is not bad. It is normal.
We changed one thing. The program went from 1.2% to 4.8%. Same content. Same audience. Same offer. The change delivered $3.15M in incremental revenue over the measurement period.
The one change
We replaced the static asset with a personalized video. Not a human recording 2,000 Loom videos. A pipeline: the same approved source material, turned into a short video that named the recipient's company, referenced their specific situation, and was delivered by a consistent, on-brand presenter.
That is it. No new copy. No new offer. No new list.
Why it worked, and why it was not "because video"
People will tell you video converts because it is engaging. That is half true and mostly useless. Here is the actual mechanism, as best I can measure it:
- Attention is the scarce resource, not information. The recipient already had access to the information. They had not given it attention. A video with their company name in the first three seconds buys attention.
- Personalization signals effort. Even when the recipient knows it is automated, a message built for them reads as higher intent than a message built for everyone. Reply rates reflect that.
- Format changes the consumption decision. A PDF is a task. A 60-second video is a break. The same content, reframed as something you can consume passively, gets consumed.
The message was never the problem. The container was.
What I would tell an operator
Before you rewrite your messaging, re-segment your list, or re-price the offer, run a format test. Hold everything else constant. Take your best-performing static asset and deliver the exact same content as a personalized video to a matched cohort. Measure conversion in your own system, not the vendor's dashboard.
If it does not move, you have learned something cheap. If it moves like ours did, you have found the highest-leverage change available to you, and you found it without touching the thing your team spent a year building.
The caveat
This works when the underlying content is good and the list is qualified. Personalized video does not rescue a bad offer. It amplifies what is already there. At 1.2% there was something there. At 4.8% it was visible.
